Meet Recap: Thawng competed at the USAPL Spring Fling, where he was able to hit a PR total, and the highlight of the day being a big PR Squat. Thawng rounded out the day with a 601lb squat, 352lb. bench press, and a 584lb. deadlift for a 1,537lb. total. This was our first meet together, a big priority was getting squat to show up on the day, as that had been the main thing holding back some of his prior meet performances. And that goal was accomplished, and Thawng was able to cross off that 600lb. squat milestone, and moved that same weight better than he did 6 weeks ago when we did our main squat test prior to the meet. So checkmark to the adjustments made to break the squat curse and getting that lift to peak well. Through the bench and deadlift, Thawng was able to go 5 for 6, just missing his 3rd deadlift. And while he was able to hit a PR total on the day, with structuring things to prioritize squat predictability, bench and deadlift ended up not following quite as clean of a progression into the meet. Some of the adjustments that helped get squat to show up on the day probably came back around to make bench and deadlift a little less predictable, and with this being our first meet together, it definitely gave us a lot of useful information moving forward.
