Meet Recap: Jason competed at USAPL Raw Nationals, where he placed 8th overall in the 100kg class. It was an all around phenomenal day, as Jason’s lifts peaked well past what we even thought. Jason finished the day with a 655lb. squat, 418lb. bench press, and a 722lb. deadlift for a big PR total of 1807lbs. This was our first meet together, so I am always conservative in attempt selection in not expecting too much over what someone is able to do in the gym, but deadlift in particular looked like it was maybe a second attempt. All of this is just good news moving forward, and I am really excited for the potential of Jason as he builds into this 100kg class (after being 90-93kg for all meets prior) over the next year. Prior to work together, Jason tended to jump around a lot with his training focus and spent most of the year not being hyper specific to powerlifting. And in just the 15 weeks we had leading into Nationals it was pretty profound the improvements he was able to make with more structured programming. On the day I think Jason was likely good for 835kg+, so we will see how much further he pushes that up!
