Meet Recap: Jose competed at 2026 Mexico Mega Nationals, where he was able to place 5th in the 93kg class! Jose was able to round out his total with a 628lb. squat for a big PR, and the highlight lift of the day. Followed by 375lbs. on bench press and 628lbs. on deadlift to finish with a total of 1,631lbs! It was a pretty fun 4 way battle for 2nd place, and came down to final deadlifts where all 4 had a chance to pull into 2nd. Jose loaded up 672lbs. to try to pull into position, but wasn’t quite there on the day. It has been a fun level up in competition over the past year for Jose, where he competed at his 1st Arnold in 2025, and then his first nationals in 2026, and got a nice taste of the bigger stage and direct head to head competition. A big thank you to Eden who made the great calls on the day and was fun getting to go back and forth and discuss strategy during deadlifts! Next up for Jose is a big shift, as he is going to cut down to 83kg and compete at NAPFs in August. So the next 5 months will be a lot about working to maintain strength as he slowly diets down. With all the life responsibilities Jose has, he consistently is on top of every variable, and continually appreciate all his hard work. Very confident with the effort he puts in, he will be set up better than most to handle a weight class change like this and bring an even better performance to NAPFs!
