Meet Recap: Lorenzo competed at USAPL Rising Tide, where he was able to finish the day in 3rd place, taking home a nice $1,500 check! With Lorenzo not doing Nationals this year, this in sense was his Nationals and his final meet of the year, and it could not have gone much better. The Arnold in short was not great, and this meet was redemption time to put together what we knew was there back in March. Lorenzo was able to finish the day with a 612lb. squat, 391lb. bench press, and a 744lb. deadlift for a PR total of 1,747lbs! Going into the meet we figured it was a bit of a long shot to place on the podium and in the money spots. But we also knew if he executed, with his deadlift things might be able to fall into our laps. And that is exactly what happened. As the day progressed, we saw some misses here and there, and by the 2nd and 3rd attempt deadlift it became more clear he was right in the running. In the end his 2nd attempt deadlift ended up securing 3rd place, and after it was evident 2nd place was just out of reach, we loaded up what was needed to secure a PR total and finish the day 9 for 9. This was the most locked in and focused I had seen Lorenzo on meet day, and it was evident how much he wanted this performance and couldn’t be happier for him. As mentioned, this is his last meet for this year and going to spend some time experimenting post-meet with some slightly different programming setups for squat and deadlift in particular.
