Meet Recap: Mark competed at the 2025 USAPL Raw Nationals, where he finished in 3rd place in a close battle in the 75kg class. Mark rounded out the day with a 556lb. squat, 380lb. bench press, and a 688lb. deadlift for a total of 1624lbs. After a lot of high hopes for last years Nationals, this was a bit of redemption. It was not the perfect day, but the goal was to place top 3 and Mark was able to overcome some slight bobbles early on to finish strong on deadlift and secure the bronze. We found ourselves in a battle with Eric Lapointe, which has been a common occurrence for myself and athletes I’ve coached. And Eric is not exactly the person you want pulling after you with how consistent he is. We knew we needed at minimum 737.5kg to secure top 3 due to placings in the morning session, so we loaded 312.5kg on deadlift to secure that spot. We had bodyweight advantage on Eric, so that forced him to shoot for 740kg and he was able to execute and pull into 2nd. All in all, outside of the slight missteps and a bit too aggressive of a call on bench on my part, this was the strongest Mark had been. Deadlift in particular might have had that lifetime goal number of 317.5kg there if we had fully pushed, but will save that for next time!
