Meet Recap: Mark competed at USAPL Raw Nationals where he was able to put together a 1548lb. total in the 75kg class. Mark rounded out the day with a 540lb. squat, 391lb. bench press, and a 617lb. deadlift. We knew going in that it could be a very close battle for that 2nd through 5th place, and based on the ending standings of 2-4th being separated by just 2.5kg, we needed a perfect day to be in the hunt. That ended up being not in the cards on the day for a multitude of factors, encapsulated by unfortunately tweaking his low back on his 2nd attempt deadlift. Mark felt what seemed to be his right QL lock up on him mid-lif. And appreciate all the work from @avataraangdrew to try to work that out in the warmup room to give Mark a shot at a 3rd attempt, but it ended up not being worth the risk. With that, the win on the day was bench press, as that was the lift last meet we knew we had some room to make ground on. Mark was able in his typical fashion to grind out 391lbs., and for him that was a relatively easy grinder. After a tough start on squat due to issue on depth, Mark did fantastic keeping composed and executing exactly as hoped on bench. Between last meet and indicators in training, 750kg is right around the corner and with Mark’s continued hard work and consistency, I am confident that will be there sooner rather than later.
