Meet Recap: Matt competed at the Powerlifting America Barbells and Barbecue 3 and was able to secure PRs on all 3 lifts and a solid 12.5kg PR total! Matt rounded out the day with a 446lb. squat, 248lb. bench press, and a 507lb. deadlift for a 1201lb. total. This is our first meet together and it could not have gone any better, and that is in large to the consistency and hard work Matt displays day in and day out. I told him after the meet that this was about as easy as it gets for a coach, as his hard work made my job pretty simple. And we already know there is another PR total to come next meet, as that 3rd attempt squat and deadlift had plenty more in the tank. Deadlift was the one lift we still had been making some small adjustments to leading into this final block, in large part from a technique standpoint in trying to minimize the mid thigh sticking point he would have. That 3rd attempt deadlift shows the improvement, as before that would have been a pretty hard stick mid thigh, but absolutely crushed it this time around with likely another 5-7.5kg in the tank. Next up is PA Age Nats, as Matt will be aging into M1 next year, and as long as @squat.meme.deadlift doesn’t try to run from the competition, we will be taking direct aim at the meme lord.
