Meet Recap: Mitch defined what it means to not leave a kilo on the platform, and the grind king worked his magic at the USAPL Kansas State Championships. We’ve struggled to really have a full day that showcases Mitch’s strength, but it really came together on this day for his best meet yet. Mitch was able to finish the day with a 463lb. squat, 286lb. bench press, and a 507lb. deadlift for a nice PR total at 1256lbs. As you can see, not a single lift had any more in the tank, but at the same time, you can see Mitch’s confidence with those head nods. There is just a very specific point in both the squat and the deadlift where we know if he passes that sticking point, it doesn’t matter how slow its moving, he will finish the lift. Really happy for Mitch that this all came together, as over the last 3 years working with him he is about as consistent as it comes with training. He is someone who just really enjoys training and the process. He doesn’t compete often and doesn’t tend to derive his main motivation from competing, but rather just really enjoys the day in and day outs of training. We’ve hit a lot of big PRs in the gym, but this was the meet it came together on the platform!
