Meet Recap: Wascar is your 3x National Champion and 2x defending @powerlifting_america National Champion. The day would not have been complete though without the underlying goal of redeeming that final deadlift from Worlds. Wascar locked out the grindiest deadlift I have seen him hit to solidify a 638kg (1406lb.) total, which if he duplicates at Worlds would qualify him for Sheffield 2025. Wascar’s total was rounded out by a 490lb. squat, 326lb. bench press, and a 589lb deadlift. Knowing based on openers Wascar was likely getting the worlds team spot, a big priority was putting together a total that was reflective of his full potential. The last 2 meets he had wrapped up his goal by 2nd attempt deadlift and both times we number hunted to hit a certain total. And while a similar thing happened to an extent this meet as well, the overriding goal was to make sure to hit 9 lifts and solidify on the platform what he was capable of. A huge thanks to Matt and Sioux-z Gary for the help with handling Wascar on the day and the perfect attempt selection. With Matt and Sioux-z being the Worlds team coaches, it was a great chance to start building that relationship prior to Lithuania. It is still somewhat up in the air from my understanding on if certain competitors will be allowed to compete this year at Worlds, but regardless, Wascar is going to be bringing a total that can contend with any 59kg lifter in the world.
