Meet Recap: It’s been a little over 2 years since Clayton has last competed, and over 3 years since his last meet PR total. But that changed this past weekend at the USPA DT Midwest Challenge, where Clayton capped off his comeback from an injury-filled 2018-2019 with a PR total at 1301lbs! The day went about perfect, where he hit his first squat PR in over 3 years at 441lbs., benched 287lbs., and hit his best deadlift since 2017 at 573lbs! We had secured the PR total and a phenomenal day by the 2nd attempt deadlift, and we knew in that scenario the plan was to take a shot at one of Clayton’s lifetime goals of a 600lb. deadlift. He gave it a great run and was able to get it to his mid thigh, but just was a touch too much on the day. I’m pretty confident 583-589lbs. would have been there, but with really all of our goals achieved on the day, it was worth having go to see if he could just add some more icing to the cake.
