Meet Recap: Justin competed at the Indiana’s Strongest Man Record Breakers with the goal of qualifying for USS Nationals in June, and he did just that and more! The highlight of the day was definitely a 615lb. max deadlift, which was a 55lb. PR! We went in with a goal of 600lbs. but at the last second they changed the weight (Wessel’s rule deadlift) and jumped the next possible attempt to 615lbs. So Justin had to got for, and made it look easy! He also was able to hit a PR Log Press of 255lbs. and a 280lb. farmer’s hold for 36 seconds. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to get a rep on the 165lb. circus dumbbell, but most of that comes down to the fact that due to lack of equipment, it is an event he just isn’t able to practice.
The number 1 goal moving forward is improving Justin’s log press. We set out to make a big jump on his deadlift over the past year, and that has been a big success. But now we need to get that log press over 300. So leading up to Nationals that will be a big emphasis in our training so that come June Justin will be ready!
