Meet Recap: Drew competed on the pro day at Ghost Clash in what was basically a “deadlift only” meet for him, and fortunately it was a good deadlift only day. Drew was able to add 55lbs. to his best deadlift and hit 727lbs. for his 3rd attempt, which really we had no idea what his top end was until that day. Due to many circumstances, we hadn’t pushed deadlift to any relative max in a long time, but it was obvious based on rep work, strength was far exceeding anything he had done before. So our plan was to hit 700lbs. on his 2nd attempt knowing that was there for sure, and then just take what is there on his 3rd. And in typical Drew Thompson fashion it was a grinder.
